Grrr-argh!
One line I'm hearing very often at work these days is that the market is everywhere since its tax time. Its up, its down, its yo-yo-ing quicker than Lindsay Lohan dates. But yeah; TAX TIME. those 2 words that I really did not need to hear. Its going to be interesting this. After all, I spent about 2 months or so unemployed and took some time off (unpaid) to go to Malaysia so at least it'll look like I just earned less for the financial year. Right? I can only hope.
I can also only hope that my new employers manage to give me my group certificate or whatever it is early enough. The way things stand, I've been here 6 weeks, I know I have a contract that has been drawn up but nary a sight of it have I seen. And, I didn't receive any bank/superannuation detail form to fill in till the day my pay was supposed to go in as well. Super-organised here? No, not really.
Incidentally, I just looksed out the window and its bright and sunny with clear blue skies. And the reason I'm saying this is because it as all rainy and fogged up this morning. In fact, your typical gray and dreary winter day. It looks like I'm in a completely different country right now. This means I can face the shops now. :) Though for some strange reason, I'm not really hankering for any new togs. I do need to go to the post office anyway. I've had my mom's power bill stuck to my fridge for the past week and its due to be paid.
Am looking forward to an early night. Was up late last night watching Australia play Italy. And may I say, we were CHEATED. I know Italy is a very good team, but Australia played so well last night. If it weren't for that (wrongly-called) penalty right at the end, right in the 92nd minute, there was no way Italy could have won. But at least we went down on top, so to speak. At least we know it wasn't due to crap playing, that we didn't get through. Hopefully this means that people here will be more open to soccer, rather than mainly being obsessed with Aussie football.
Also took Kimi to the vet for her vaccination yesterday. I remember when we first got her, she was so tiny. I even thought there was no way she could be as old as we were told. She's nearly 7 months now, but I thought she was 2 months or so younger than her real age. But she's grown so much, and when we weighed her yesterday, we found she's a whopping 3.55 kg. I'm not sure how much Peps would be, maybe 5 kg since she's a little bigger but still very slim. And Smudge, big boy that he is, tops it off at 8 kg. We were told he's not over-weight, he's just a very healthy big boy. But we wouldn't want him any bigger. As it is, he has a way of landing on my chest when he jumps up onto the bed. Not a good way to be woken up, I can tell you.
And finally, going to work today, I heard that the books of Enid Blyton are getting a go-over, due to content that could be seen as not being politically correct. I think its stupid and a waste of time. Kids don't actually think about how wrong Aunt Fanny and Uncle Dick or queer sound. To them, they're just names and words, until stupid, STUPID adults go and point out the negative connotations associated with those words. There is a reason why they use the term "child-like innocence". Of course, in a bid to 'protect' the kids, adults are the ones who ultimately cause the loss of that innocence. Obviously have too much time on their hands...
