Home for the Holidays...Definitely

Umm, yeah. So now its on again. :D In fact, Scott's getting his ticket tomorrow and one week later, we'll be off. I am looking forward to it, but at the same time, I've never been away from my kitties for that long. They'll be staying with my best friend and although I know she'll spoil them to bits, Smudge is a bit 'difficult', in the same way a human child is. And I have no idea (and I dread to think) how he'll handle being in a totally different environment. Thank God he will have Pepper to keep him company.

Otherwise its a mere 5 days to Xmas.

Home for the Holidays...or not

Traditionally, the holiday season is a time when people fly back home and spend time with the family. This is going to be the first year I've not done that. Actually, I was going to, then not, then was again and now not. There was also a brief period (lasting all of yesterday) when there was talking to flying back to Malaysia after Xmas itself but I don't think that'll be in the the works anymore.

While living in London, last minute flights were the most wonderful thing. As in you could always count on getting a last minute flight and at a great price too. Never mind that these were within Europe and I'm talking about an international inter-continental flight here. Or the fact that I might be able to get there but not get back. *sheesh*

So at this point, the plan has reverted back to lunch with Scott's grandparents on Xmas day, drive to Toodyay and have dinner with the rest of the family there and then stay the night. This means my cats will be home alone to destroy the house to their hearts delight. Hmmm, I think the bedroom door will have to stay closed. Am still stressing over Xmas presents. We have to get them tonight and all I can think of is the food shopping and the lovely duvet set i saw in a catalogue. So no, nothing for anyone else yet. Generic or otherwise.

Have another work do on Monday, should be fun. Its during office hours, definitely no drinking. Not that I'd be drinking anyway, but its always fun to see what other people get up to when they're pissed.

Ho, Ho, Sigh...

Its now official folks; we're in the month of December and Xmas is a mere 23 days away. Well, 23 days if you go by Western Australian Standard Time. And so, roll on the Xmas parties. Which are fun. But then there's the presents to consider. Oh the dread! The stress!

Okay, I'm lucky, most of my family will not be around. But then, I'll be spending Xmas with Scott's family. At first, I panicked. Then I realised, that's when generic but festive gifts come into play. Gift hampers are always a good idea and generally well-appreciated. Especially if it comes in the way of food/desserts/booze and even more so when you're staying with said gift bestowee. I already have visions of myself getting truck-loads of preserves, candies, desserts sauces, dips, spices from Target. Okay, not the poshest of places but their gift sets are actually very nice.

Harder will be selecting a pressie for Scott. I'm thinking of playing it safe with another generic present. This time in the shape of a wallet. I really would love to get him a really nice pair of shoes, but he'd have to try them on and 10 to 1, he'll wind up not wearing them in the end. I'm not going with more ties. The cats already have a heyday trying to pull them off the hanger. For myself, well...I've not really stopped buying myself stuff. I've still been stocking up on dresses.

Luckily, I've not had the stress of trying to find all my Xmas dresses. The time with Scott's family will be a casual affair. I'm still going to dress up a little, I wouldn't feel like 'me' if I didn't. And I know its still some time away but I've already been mentally going through my wardrobe. And for work-related finctions, I suppose whever I wear to work will suffice. There's a do on the 19th that's to take place on work premises so I'm thinking just a little extra bling for that day.

Oh, I have a work dinner tonight. Consequntly, have been doing my nails at my desk. Well, one of the main programmes I require for work is out till Mon, and having not much else to do, I may as well do something semi-constructive (in my mind) with my time. I have yet to pick out and outfit for tonight but I think its going to be 1 of my 3 newest dresses. I think I'd better give it more thought....
