Newbie

I am leaving Montagu Stockbrokers tomorrow and over this past week, have been training my replacement. Her name's Minnie, she's a nice girl but I don't know if she's going to be able to hack it.

She's still a little unsure about the systems, and before I hear you go "well, she's only bee there just under a week" let me just say that I had 2 days of training and then I was on my own. And I also had to do a float from day 1.

But Minnie is bubbly and willing to learn. I think the main thing that worries me is that she tends to speak too0 quickly and slurs the ends of her sentences. This is a bit of a problem when it comes to speaking to the shares registry and to clients.

But as someone else said, its not really my problem. I've done the best I can to train her up, I've even printed out screan shots and written step by step instructions about how to use stuff and how to pull up certain info. The only thing I need to do for myself is o get a new job but I want a bit of a break bfore that anyway. I miss sleeping in!

On a completely unrelated subject, we're been haivng lots of rain. Looks like our winter rain has finally and properly begun. And it looks like my mom has brought it with her from Malaysia. I so want to be in bed, enjoying the rain; rather the dark days that the rain brings, therefore facillitating my sleeping.

Another thing, Kimi's wound from getting neutered has finally dried up nicely so we don't have to keep her in the bathroom at night. She, out of all my kitties loves ocmpany the most, so it must kill her to be locked away from everyone. Last night was the 1st time since her operation, that she could spend the night with her. And even with plastic collor on, she can still get under the bed and chew the protective scotchtape. So annoying, but so cute!

And at least this means Smudge will probably stop tipping bins ove as well. He tends to act up when he gets upset, and was certainly upset at not having Kimi to play with. Peps is a lot quieter and he's a lot closer to Kimi. Its really so cute the way they sleep cuddled up to each other.

And finally, dinner on Saturday night at my place. :) Have been dining at my mom's since she got here, but have decided to be a nice daughter and cook dinner. Have also invited some people over, meaning Scott and I will have to bring thr outside dining table in as our ndoor one only seats 6. And we'll be having a out 8 people altogether.

Frosty Air

Okay, so it wasn't snowing or anything like that, but it was COLD this morning. And I had to take the train as Scott isn't well. Timing was brilliant, the train arrived just as I got into the station. The bad thing was (and this was announced on the train) that we had caught up with the train in front of us as it was running late. And as a consequence, we would be late too. But anyway, got to Perth and then had to walk to work.

Cold is once thing, cold and windy is another. A not very nice 'another' at that. By the time I arrived at my office, my face felt like it had frozen off and my head actually hurt from the cold. I had a scarf but no hat. Good thing my boss had brought in a heater from his home. Its currently cranked up beside me. And I still have my coat on.

To briefly touch on another subject, I'm looking for new employment. Have been applying to heaps of different things and have been called for an interview which I have squeezed into my lunch break today. Fingers crossed!

Another Year Older

Yesterday I turned 26. By no means a moumental occasion; as a friend puts it, "this year we are closer to 30 than to 20". I wish I could say that I went out and did lots of fun things but the truth is, I was stuck at work. At least I actually managed to get a lunchbreak. Which I spent shopping. Alone. I did meet 2 pairs of shoes though. They liked me enough to want to come home with me.

Scott had roses and a bday balloon delivered to my work. Till then, no one else knew it was my bday, and I was happy enough for them not to know. Got home and while Peps and Kimi clamoured round the flowers and balloon, Smudge runs off and looks at me like I'm purposely bringing in these horrible things just to scare the bejesus out of him.

It was nice yesterday. Rainy (I got caught in the rain as well) but elatively warm. Unlike today; its gray, windy and decidedly cooler. Was craving either Chinese or kebabs so wound up getting Chinese buffet takeaway with Jane. Am now back at work, dying for the day to be over. Going to see Superman Returns tonight. And maybe this weekend (or next Tues) will be Pirates of the Carribean. I want to see The Devil Wears Prada, which is already open in the US, but upon checking the coming attractions here, there's no sight of it, not even well into October. Stupid, useless Aussie cinemas!
