Brigadoon
I grew up watching musicals. In fact, I knew the music from shows like The King & I, Camelot, South Pacific, etc. more than I did chart hits. And what 'modern music' I did listen to, was mostly the stuff my parents had on, as in oldies. This was when I was very, very little. But I certainly forged my love for soppy romantic music. Which everyone knows about. And everyone also hates, I daresay.
For some time now, I've been wanting to watch Brigadoon again. I know I'd be able to get it at Video Ezy or Blockbuster, but I haven't got round to even renting Underworld Evolution so scratch that. Actually, I've already got that movie, courtesy of a pirate download site (don't tell anyone!). But yeah, not managed to watch it yet.
Anyway, Scott's currently in Melbourne for work, so here I am at home, staying up late once again. And as any normal person who's gone and had normal tea (as opposed to decaf tea), I can't sleep. Okay, maybe not any normal person, but I'm so used to drinking decaf, that when I have regular it really affects me. So I was surfing Foxtel and as I get to TCM, what should come up but Brigadoon. Success!
I was going to wait to catch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy but the amazing dancing of Gene Kelly won out. I think the next movie I'll have to be on a look-out for is Camelot. Although that is essentially, a very depressing movie. And no Gene Kelly either.

Incidentally, it's been over 30 mins since the movie finished and I've now moved onto the Lifestyle Channel watching Ready, Steady, Cook. I know, I'm a sad sad person. I won't even try deny it. But to my credit, I'm not the only person whose back-up shows are usually food-based. And I've also just noticed that TCM will be showing Singin' in the Rain at 2.30 a.m. Another Gene Kelly hit with that famous song and dance scene in the rain, but methinks way too late. So, to bed then!
